The School is an instrument of apostolic out reach to people who have lived the experience of a Cursillo weekend. It helps them discover, accept, and grow in their vocations, bringing them together so that together they can take on the responsibility of being leaders in the Church, in the Movement, and in their respective secular environments.

The School has three convergent dimensions. It is at the same time:

· A school of holiness

· A school of community, and

· A school of formation

à Spiritual formation

à Doctrinal formation

à Formation in human values

à Formation of a social conscience

à Formation of the apostolate

Pope John Paul recommends the School of leaders (in ChL, 62)
prepare its leaders for their apostolate in a way that is distinctive to the Movement.
Leaders need to receive formation in the Cursillo
philosophy, method, strategy, and operational structures.

The School accomplishes its purpose when:

· To each of it members it gives

à Basic principles, filling their heads with ideas,

à The spirit (fire in the heart) to carry them out

· the movement

à Sounds out any questions or problems and serves as a channel for them

à Inspires and strengthens the core groups or communities generated by the Cursillos

à Deepens the conversion of its members, and prepares future leaders of the Movement by giving them a formation of holiness, doctrine, technique, and the spirit of service

· In environments it exerts influence by evangelizing the individuals who form the backbone of its way of thinking; in other words, by transforming the mentality of those individuals in such a way that they will then promote and energize:

à Core groups for evangelization of the environment

à Church communities, and

à Civic communities

Members of the School are those men and women who, having lived the experience of a Cursillo weekend, freely accept responsibility for the evangelizing mission of the Church, seeing it as their special vocation to do this within the specific context of the Cursillo Movement.

The Cursillo Movement cultivates leaders who have knowledge, desire, and capability to inspire, energize and fortify it throughout all three of its phases: Precursillo, Cursillo, and Postcursillo. For this task it calls on people who are already leaders in their everyday lives, inviting these natural leaders to take leadership positions in the operational structures of the Movement (the School and the Secretariat).
